NEW ORLEANS – A seaman alleges he was injured after slipping on oil.

Willard Domingue filed a complaint on April 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Marquette Transportation Co. - Gulf Inland LLC alleging that the employer failed to provide a safe place to work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 4, 2015, he was employed as a seaman aboard the vessel Repentance, which is owned and/or operated by the defendant. On that same date, he alleges he slipped on oil in the engine room of the vessel, causing him to sustain severe and disabling injuries to his neck, low back and related extremities.

The plaintiff holds Marquette Transportation Co. - Gulf Inland LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly created and maintained an unseaworthy vessel, failed to properly maintain the vessel, failed to provide proper equipment and/or personnel to accomplish his job and refused and/or failed to timely pay maintenance and cure benefits.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount to be determined at trial, plus interest, attorney’s fees, and all costs and for any and all other relief which the law and justice will provide. He is represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and Kristi A. Post of Scheuermann & Jones in New Orleans.
