Turn Services LLC accused of unsafe work environment

Cargo ship 03

NEW ORLEANS – A seaman is suing his employer over claims he was injured on the job.

Robert Teague filed a complaint on May 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Turn Services LLC alleging that the vessel operator breached a legally imposed duty of reasonable care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in Aug. 6, 2015, while he was aboard the vessel Assault, he experienced an accident that resulted in serious painful injuries to his right ankle and other parts of his body. The plaintiff holds Turn Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a reasonably safe place to work, failed to properly train and supervise him, failed to take any means or precautions for the safety of its employees and created and failed to properly maintain an unseaworthy vessel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor for past, present and future adequate maintenance benefits; past, present and future payment of any and all cure benefits to which he is entitled by law; and penalties and additional damages if applicable. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris, Megan C. Misko and Daniel J. Poolson Jr. of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
