NEW ORLEANS — An Orleans Parish woman is suing the United States of America, alleging its negligence caused her to be injured at a naval air station.

Una F. Brown filed a lawsuit June 8 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against the United States of America, alleging negligence and failure to warn about hazards on its premises.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 10, 2014, while Brown was shopping in the commissary of the Naval Air Station Joint Preserve Base New Orleans, she tripped and fell over an unmarked electrical cord that caused personal injuries and damages, both mental and physical.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to warn and created a hazardous condition on the premises it owned and maintained.

Brown seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $100,000, legal costs, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Richard J. Richthofen, Jr. of Richthofen & Associates LLC in New Orleans.
