Couple claims husband was injured due to a manufacturer defect in a hip component

GRETNA – A couple is seeking damages claiming that complications were caused by the installation of a hip replacement component.

Carol and Mary Marie filed a suit against Boneafied Orthopaedics Inc., Vallette and Associates Inc., Steve Vallette, Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc., Biomet Inc., Biomet Othopedics LLC, Biomet U.S. Reconstruction LLC and Biomet Manufacturing Corp. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 3.

According to the claim, Carol Marie received treatment for a hip condition and was admitted to East Jefferson General Hospital for the installation of several Biomet Magnum components. However, the suit states that the plaintiff was caused complications due to the defect of the product used.

The defendants are accused of manufacturer liability, negligence, misrepresentation and violation of the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, as well as loss of consortium.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Terrence J. Lestelle, Andrea S. Lestelle and Richard M. Morgain of Lestelle and Lestelle in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
