Officer seeks damages over claims he was injured

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish law enforcement officer is seeking damages following an incident in which he was allegedly struck by a man in a purportedly stolen car.

Kenneth Guichard et uxor filed a suit against Equan Anderson in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 31.

According to the claim, Guichard is a Jefferson Parish deputy who was injured on Jan. 4. The suit states that while attempting to apprehend the defendant in a purportedly stolen 2009 Toyota Corolla, the defendant ran deputy Guichard over with the car in an attempt to avoid arrest, causing him injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by C. A. Fleming III of Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan.
