Woman claims Hobby Lobby display chair broke and caused her injuries

GRETNA – A St. Bernard Parish woman alleges she was injured when a display chair broke under her.

Lisa Hill filed a suit against Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest in the Hobby Lobby located in Jefferson Parish on June 1, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that when the plaintiff attempted to try out an assembled display chair, the furniture broke under her weight, allegedly resulting in her injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failure to inspect the soundness of the chair on display, failure to act with reasonable care and creating a dangerous situation.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Kevin M. Riley and Michael D. Riley. The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
