Man alleges foot injuries in incident at Macy's

GRETNA – A St. Bernard Parish individual is seeking damages claiming that a faulty door led to personal injury in a Macy's department store.

Kenard Bienemy filed a suit against Macy's Retail Holdings Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 17.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer in the Macy's store located at 3301 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie when the incident occurred on June 19, 2015. The suit states that while the plaintiff was waiting at the cashier's desk, the door of the desk allegedly fell on the plaintiff's foot, resulting in personal injuries.

The defendant is accused of gross and wanton negligence through its failure to repair the broken door, failure to warn customers of the danger, failure to provide a safe environment for customers and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Christopher M. Rodriguez and Michael I. Rodriguez Sr. of New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
