GRETNA – A man is seeking damages, claiming that the negligent actions of his lawyers resulted in his deprivation of indemnity benefits after being injured at work.

Sylvester Holt filed a suit against Helen M. Daniel, Kathryn Young Williams and Daniel Williams & Associates LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 13.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was injured while working on a job at Brand Energy Solutions LLC in 2013. The defendants, who were representing the plaintiff legally in a workers' compensation claim, allegedly caused his case to be dismissed with prejudice by the judge.

The defendants are accused of dishonesty, fraud, deceit and misrepresentation in relation to their handling of the matter.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Brett E. Emmanuel of New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
