NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she was caused injuries due to a faulty handicapped ramp at a Michael's store.

Dorothy Perrault filed a suit against Magnolia Market Place LLC and Michael's Stores Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a customer at Michael's store located at 2900 South Claiborne Ave. on Aug. 29, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while entering the store, she was caused to stumble and fall while walking up a handicapped ramp. The fall allegedly resulted in personal injuries to the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of negligence through its failure to allow the dangerous condition to exist, violating standards for safe walking surfaces and overall failure to prevent such incidents.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Dareen M. Jacobs, Al Sarrat and Rene Lovelace of New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
