Late 03

NEW ORLEANS – An auction company is seeking damages over claims a New York individual did not pay for items purchased at an auction.

Cakebread Art Antiques Collectables Inc., doing business as New Orleans Auction Galleries, filed a suit against Leslie Keno, individually and on behalf of Keno Art Advisory LLC, in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff and defendant entered into an agreement on April 22, in which the defendant wished to take place in an auction to be held on April 23-24 by the plaintiff, and agreeing to abide by the terms and conditions of sale and bidding. However, the suit states that the defendant did not have the money to pay for items purchased at the auction.

The defendant is accused of detrimental reliance and auction misconduct.

The plaintiff is seeking $30,875 plus interest and storage fees in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Jonathan C. Pedersen, Shawn C. Reed and Kyle T. Del Hierro of Howard, Reed, Delhierro and Pedersen of Covington.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
