Cakebread Art Antiques Inc. alleges it was not paid after auction

NEW ORLEANS – An auction company is seeking damages after two customers failed to pay for items bid on.

Cakebread Art Antiques Inc., doing business as New Orleans Auction Galleries, filed a suit against Leigh Keno and Leslie Keno, individually and on behalf of Keno Art Advisory LLC, in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 10.

According to the claim, the defendants entered into an agreement in April with the plaintiff in which they agreed to the terms and conditions of participation for an auction that was to be held by the plaintiff. The suit states that despite their agreement to abide by the rules of the auction, the defendants failed in their obligations by bidding on items totaling an amount of $336,093.75, but failing to have the money to pay for the items bid on.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking $336,093.75 plus storage fees in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Jonathan C. Pedersen, Shawn C. Reed and Kyle T. Del Hierro of Howard, Reed, DelHierro and Pedersen of Covington.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
