NEW ORLEANS – A man alleges a former roommate took his property and has not returned it.

Douglas M. Schmidt filed a suit against Amber Holmes, also known as Amber Johnson, James V. Serio Jr., Charleene D. Serio and Serio Family LLC No. 2 in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 6.

According to the claim, Schmidt and Holmes rented a property on Bienville Street. The suit states that the property had a number of valuable goods, including a piano, artwork valued at more than $5,000, as well as furniture and rugs, which belonged to the plaintiff. The suit states that Holmes unexpectedly moved out of the property, taking the mentioned items with her. The suit states that Holmes relocated to a different address owned by the remaining listed defendants and that the plaintiff contacted her about the return of the items. Though Holmes alleged initially seemed to be willing to give the items back in December 2015, the plaintiff has yet to receive the items.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is representing himself and by Peter R. Borstell of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
