Slip01

GRETNA – A St. Charles Parish couple is seeking damages, claiming that a fall was caused by a spill left on the ground at a mall.

Yvette Draughon and Brian Draughon filed a suit against Simon Property Group Inc., Interstate Cleaning Corp., ABC insurance company and XYZ insurance company in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 21.

According to the claim, the suit states that Yvette Draughon was a customer at the Esplanade Mall on June 28, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that she was caused to slip and fall by a spill that was left on the ground.

The defendants are accused of negligence through allowing such a condition to exist, failing to provide a safe environment for customers, failing to place warning signs and failing to remedy the situation to prevent such incidents from occurring.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Pete Lewis and Sarah Delahoussaye Call of Lewis & Caplan in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
