Roughneck alleges unsafe work environment responsible for injuries

NEW ORLEANS – A roughneck is suing his employer alleging its negligence caused him injuries.

Neal Warren filed a complaint on July 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Seadrill Americas Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 24, he was assigned to the defendant's vessel the West Capricorn, operating in the Gulf of Mexico, when he sustained severe and disabling physical and mental injuries. The plaintiff holds Seadrill Americas Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work, failed to give proper and appropriate warnings and failed adequately plan the operation ongoing at the time of the incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment rendered his favor in the total sum of $2 million, plus interest, all costs of these proceedings, and for all other general, equitable maritime relief he is entitled.
