Community college seeks damages for an allegedly open account

NEW ORLEANS – A community college claims that a student failed to make payments on an open account.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System through Delgado Community College filed a suit against Destiny Cooper in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 18.

According to the claim, the defendant was a student at the community college in the spring of 2014. The suit states that the student maintained an open account for a balance of more than $1,000.

The defendant is accused of open account through failing to pay for the services received.

The plaintiff is seeking $1,039 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Scott L. Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown
