Woman claims that she was injured while shopping at Walmart

GRETNA – A woman claims that she was struck by a product in Walmart and injured.

Barbara Word filed a suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 5.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the Walmart Super Center, located at 1501 Manhattan Blvd., when the incident occurred on July 6, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was trying to check the price of a product when a folding bench swung down and struck her in the face, resulting in injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through allowing a dangerous condition to exist, failing to inspect the premises to ensure a safe environment for shoppers and overall negligence in management of the store.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Michael C. Donald and Edwin R. Murray of Murray, Darnell & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
