Slip02

GRETNA – A man claims that he fell on a puddle of algae outside of his apartment.

Richard Flowers filed a suit against Osama Minias and Madelein M. Minias, both and doing business as Tallow Tree Apartments, and XYZ insurance company in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a tenant of the Harvey property owned by the defendants on July 8, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while the plaintiff was walking on the sidewalk of the complex, he was caused to slip and fall because of a puddle of algae that had been allowed to grow on the ground. The suit also states that the fall resulted in injuries to the plaintiff, including post-traumatic headaches and bruising.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition for guests and tenants.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by Allan Berger and Andrew Geiger of Allan Berger & Associates in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
