Man claims that he was injured in slip and fall in a Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen

GRETNA – A man claims that he was injured in a slip and fall at Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen.

Bryan Dowell filed a suit against Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. and AFC Enterprises Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 20.

According to the claim, the defendant was the owner of Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen, located at 1009 Barataria Blvd. in Marrero, where, on Aug. 3, 2015, the plaintiff was a patron. The suit states that while the plaintiff was at the location above, he was caused injury when he slipped on a soapy liquid that had been left on the ground near the men's bathroom. The suit states he suffered injuries to his back, wrist, neck, thumb and tail bone.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to keep the premises free of hazardous conditions, failing to warn, failing to properly inspect the premises and other counts.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by J. Bart Kelly, Roderick Alvendia, Jeanne K. Demarest, Amy C. Fontenot and Kurt A. Offner of Alvendia, Kelly and Demarest of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
