NEW ORLEANS – A couple is seeking damages, claiming that they were cheated out of money.
Tiffany Carter and Carey Carter filed suit against Loyalty Tax Services Inc, Loyalty Professional Tax Service LLC, Dorothy Harris, Donetta Tima, Kendricka Proctor and Scaccia Proctor in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 12.
According to the claim, plaintiff Tiffany Carter entered into a franchise agreement with the defendants in 2014. The suit states that the plaintiff was told to use the FEIN of the defendant to file income tax returns. The suit also states that the defendants then changed the FEIN number, thus causing the plaintiff to lose $23,000 in processing fees that they should have collected. Through this and several other actions taken by the defendants, the plaintiffs were injured in their ability to earn the money they were owed.
The defendants are accused of breach of contract, breach of the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices Act and unjust enrichment.
The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiffs are represented by John E. Bicknell Jr. and Galen M Hair.
The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
