NEW ORLEANS – A former diesel mechanical who regularly worked with the chemical benzene in his profession allegedly attributes fault to his previous employer for his myeloma diagnosis.

Raymond Boudreaux and Marilyn Boudreaux filed a suit against Canal Barge International LLC, FMC Corp., GNOTS-Reserve Inc., Goulds Pumps Inc., Gulf Fleet Supply Vessels LLC, Huntington Ingalls Inc., IDEX Corp., Ingersoll-Rand Company, Kirby Inland Marine LP, Marquette Transportation Co. LLC, McDermott Inc., Port of New Orleans Board of Transportation and Development, Sterling Fluid Systems, Warren Pumps LLC and Wood Resources LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 9.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was an employee for Avondale Shipyard from 1963 to 1993. The suit states that the plaintiff was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2015 due to that on-the-job exposure.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to provide the plaintiff with warning or protection against the dangerous chemicals.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by William J. Jung, Damon A. Kirin, William J Diliberto, Scott M. Galante and Salvadore I. Bivalacqua.
