University of Louisiana is seeking damages for an allegedly open account

GRETNA – The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking damages for more than $3,600 in allegedly unpaid fees.

The University of Louisiana System board of supervisors through the University of Louisiana at Lafayette filed a suit against Orenta Joseph Jarreau in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 23.

According to the claim, the defendant is indebted to the plaintiff for a value of more than $3,600 following his failure to pay the balance of a promissory note.

The defendant is accused of open account against the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is seeking $3,600 plus $24 in late fees in damages, plus interest. The plaintiff is represented by J. Andrew Murrell of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
