NEW ORLEANS — A Jones Act seaman is suing vessel operators, alleging they allowed an unsafe work environment that led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Jon Krekorian filed a lawsuit Aug. 26 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against FMC Technologies Inc. Offshore Service Vessels LLC and FTO Services, alleging the defendants breached their legally imposed duty of reasonable care.

According to the complaint, on June 27, in the course of his employment aboard the defendants' M/V Island Performer, Krekorian was injured in an accident. The suit says this resulted in injuries to Krekorian's body, causing him to suffer physical, mental and emotional pain, loss of wages and benefits and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a reasonably safe place to work, failed to properly train and supervise employees, failed to properly maintain a seaworthy vessel and failed to provide adequate equipment and personnel for the job.

Krekorian seeks trial by jury, all damages with legal interest, present and future maintenance benefits and additional damages if applicable. He is represented by attorneys Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris, Megan C. Misko and Daniel J. Poolson, Jr. of The Young Law Firm in New Orleans.
