Woman blames Walmart for alleged fall on wrinkled mat

GRETNA – A woman is alleging that she fell due to a wrinkled mat in a Walmart.

Angela C. Palmisano, individually and as the sole heir and beneficiary of the succession of Joseph Palmisano, filed a suit against Walmart Stores Inc, Walmart Louisiana LLC, Sam's East Inc, and ABC Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on September 13.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was caused damages on Sept. 13, 2015 when she was at the Walmert located at 3900 Airline Highway in Metairie. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall while on the way to the fountain drink machine by a piece of mat that had been left wrinkled on the floor.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to ensure that the store was safe for customers and overall negligence for alleged failure to better manage the store.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Jerry W. Sullivan.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
