Man alleges water on floor at Petsmart caused him to fall

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages claiming that he fell while in a Petsmart because of water on the floor.

Johnny Johnson filed a suit against Petsmart Inc. and John Doe in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a business invitee at the store located at 2900 Claiborne Ave. on May 3, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall on water that had been left on the floor after it spilled out of a fish tank. He alleges the fall injured his neck, back and head.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to place signage warning of the situation and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Vincent P. Scallan of Cosse Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
