Café Roma owners allege property owner changed details of contract

NEW ORLEANS – The owners of Café Roma allege that the terms of their contract for the property were breached.

Erhan Yalcin and 1901 Sophie Wright LLC, doing business as Café Roma, filed a suit against Haluk Dogru in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 19.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs leased a property from the defendant with an option to purchase in 2008. The suit states that during the course of the leasing process, the defendant breached contract through failing to maintain the details of the original agreement through raising the rate of the rent and other changes to the contract.

The defendant is accused of bad faith breach of obligations, breach of contract and detrimental reliance.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Sherri L. Hutton of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
