Man alleges Louisiana Rehab Products Inc. brace caused ulcer

GRETNA – A man claims that an ill-fitting brace caused him to develop a pressure ulcer.

Douglass Lawson filed a suit against Louisiana Rehab Products Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 7.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a patient at the skilled nursing facility of Ochsner Health Center Elmwood between the dates of Oct. 12, 2015, and Oct. 30, 2015. The suit states that patient was placed in a back brace that placed pressure on his back and resulted in the development of Stage IV decubitus ulcer.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by T. Carey Wicker III, J. Alex Watkins and Vincent E. Odom of Capitelli & Wicker in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
