NEW ORLEANS — A woman claims that she was wrongfully accused of stealing from work.
Aletha Bryant filed a suit against Tom Wood Enterprises LLC, doing business as Café Lafitte in Exile, in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on March 24.
According to the claim, the defendant accused the plaintiff of stealing money on July 14, 2014 without having any proof of such activity. The suit explains that the defendant also terminated the plaintiff due to the false accusation. The plaintiff was not given any type of acquittal despite being proven to not be a criminal.
The defendant is accused of defamation, wrongful termination and failure to investigate the charges brought against the plaintiff.
The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Robert J. Daigre.
The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
