Man claims that he fell inside a Popeye's restaurant

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish man claims that a rug caused him to fall inside a restaurant.

Lawrence Shepard filed a suit against Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen and ABC insurance company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 2.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was at the Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen on Nov. 2, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on a rug, resulting in pain to his left knee and ankle.

Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by James P. Johnson of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
