Construction Y Maintenance Inc. accused of damaging convention center during work

NEW ORLEANS – A hotel and insurance companies are seeking damages, claiming that contractors damaged a property.

Lexington Insurance Co., Westport Insurance Co., et al, collectively as subrogee of BRE/Select Hotels Properties LLC, filed a suit against Construction Y Maintenance Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 4.

According to the claim, BRE/Select Hotels Properties contracted the defendant to complete certain renovations and repairs to the BRE/Hampton Inn Convention Center. The suit states that the defendant failed to complete the job satisfactorily and damaged sprinkler lines, causing water damage, in November 2015.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract and negligence.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by Carin Dornaan Brock and Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP in Mobile, Alabama.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
