NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims a surgery injury was not timely diagnosed and caused damages.
Majella Sutton filed a suit against Ochsner Baptist Medical Center LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
According to the claim, the plaintiff underwent surgery that was completed by medical professionals of the defendant in August 2013. The suit states that following her discharge, the plaintiff noticed a small leak from the incision on her abdominal region. The leak allegedly became worse, causing the plaintiff to seek medical attention, after which she had to go through more surgery to repair the damages that had been done through the negligence of the first surgery.
The defendant is accused failing to timely diagnose the injury, failure to properly care for her and failure to properly train its employees.
The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Don M. Richards and Aaron N. Maples of Kinney, Ellinghausen, Richard and Deshazo of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
