NEW ORLEANS – A Georgia woman claims that she was sexually harassed at work and terminated for reporting the behavior.
Bertha Mitchell filed a suit against Isidore Newman School in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 16.
According to the claim, the plaintiff was the only female bus driver employed by the defendant. The suit states that during her employment, the plaintiff's direct supervisor made a number of sexual advances against the plaintiff, including inappropriate touching and calling her cellphone. The suit explains that when the plaintiff complained of the actions that were being made, she was terminated.
The defendant is accused of creating a hostile work environment, retaliation and negligent hiring and retaining of supervisors.
The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by James V. King, Justin E. Alsterberg and Julie Quinn of Quinn Alsterberg in New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
