NEW ORLEANS – A vessel chartering company alleges it has not been paid for the use of its vessels.

United Bulk Carriers International SA filed a complaint on Nov. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Transgrain Shipping (Singapore) PTE LTD alleging breach of maritime contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 8 and Aug. 10, defendant chartered plaintiff's bulk carriers. As a result of defendant's breach of contract, the total balance of $146,272.97 remains due and owing. The plaintiff holds Transgrain Shipping (Singapore) PTE LTD responsible because despite due demands, defendant allegedly has refused to pay the sums owed under the charter party.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages in the principal amount of $146,272.97, plus interest, attorney’s fees and all costs of this action. It is represented by Andrew S. de Klerk, T. Patrick O’Leary and Brandon K. Thibodeaux of Frilot LLC in New Orleans.
