Man claims Daikin air conditioners he purchased were defective, cost more than $10,000 in repairs

GRETNA – A St. Tammany Parish man alleges he purchased three defective air conditioners.

Kevin Clabert filed a suit against New & Associates LLC and Daikin Applied Americas Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 2.

According to the claim, the plaintiff purchased three individual Daikin air conditioning units from New & Associates in 2009, 2010 and 2013. The suit states that the plaintiff discovered damages in the machines and contacted the defendants. The plaintiff alleges the repairs still resulted in defective machines, requiring more than $10,000 in repairs.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to properly fix or allow for the proper repair of the machines.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Alan J. Yacoubian, Neal J. Favret and Jason M. Freas of Johnson, Yacoubian and Paysse in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
