BATON ROUGE – An East Baton Rouge Parish woman claims she was unlawfully terminated from work because of her disability.
Kenya Spencer-Martin filed a complaint on Nov. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Exxon Mobil Corp. alleging that the oil and gas company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 30, 2015, she was terminated from her employment because she suffers from epilepsy. The plaintiff holds Exxon Mobil Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against her by refusing to allow her to return to work even though her treating neurologist released her to return to work and terminated her on the basis of her disability.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Christina L. Carroll of Robein, Urann, Spencer, Picard & Cangemi APLC in Metairie.
