Delta Account Systems Inc. alleged to have used false information to collect debt

Late 02

SHREVEPORT – A consumer alleges a Bossier City debt collector used misleading tactics in an attempt to manipulate him.

David Ecklund filed a complaint on Nov. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against Delta Account Systems Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint the plaintiff alleges that beginning in April 2016, he received calls from defendant attempting to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Delta Account Systems Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly threatened him with its intent of filing a suit against him if he could not pay the account in full immediately and stated false and misleading information in order to manipulate him to transmit money to defendant.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for actual damages, statutory damages of $1,000, attorney's fees and costs and such other relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Denis E. Vega of Vega & Associates in Metairie.
