NEW ORLEANS – A Texas well operator alleges a Scott company's negligence forced it to plug and abandon a well.

Ponderosa Oil & Gas LLC filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Gulf Coast Coil Tubing & Nitrogen Services Inc. and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. Inc. alleging negligence, breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in September 2016, it contracted defendant GCCT to perform coil tubing workover services on its John Evans No. 1 well. As a result of defendant GCCT's negligence, plaintiff alleges the use of the well was lost and it suffered damages of more than $2.5 million. The plaintiff holds Gulf Coast Coil Tubing & Nitrogen Services Inc. and St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. Inc. responsible because defendant GCCT allegedly failed to properly control the downhole pressures in the subject well and failed to exercise ordinary care in inspecting and maintaining its workover equipment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and for all such other appropriate relief. It is represented by S. Reed Morgan of Law Office of S. Reed Morgan PC in Comfort, Texas.
