SHREVEPORT – An inmate at the David Wade Correctional Center in Homer claims he was beaten by another inmate and then not provided adequate medical treatment after the alleged incident.
Tywaski J. King filed a complaint on Dec. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against James M. LeBlanc, Ken Bailey, Jerry Goodwin, et al. citing the Eight Amendment, discrimination and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 28, 2016, he was brutally beaten while handcuffed for several minutes by a fellow inmate. Since the alleged attack, he claims he has endured taunts and harassment by both correction officers and other staff. The plaintiff holds LeBlanc, Bailey, Goodwin, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly placed an inmate with a known history of violent tendencies in his cell and failed to provide additional medical treatment or follow up after the alleged incident, except for an X-ray.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorney’s fees and costs, and expenses and such further relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by LaKeisha J. Johnson in Monroe.
