NEW ORLEANS – A Jones Act seaman alleges he was injured because of an unsafe work environment.
Marcus Young filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against T. T. Barge Services Mile 237 LLC alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 15, 2016, he was employed by defendant working aboard M/V T. T. Barge Mile 237 when he experienced serious injuries to his ribs, back and other parts of his body that resulted in physical and mental pain, loss of wages and benefits, disability and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds T. T. Barge Services Mile 237 LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a reasonably safe place to work and failed to properly train and supervise its crew.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor for all damages to which he is entitled to recover, plus interest, costs, expert fees, past, present and future adequate maintenance and cure benefits and all other equitable relief. He is represented by Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris, Megan C. Misko and Daniel J. Poolson of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
