Loan company says couple owes more than $370,000 for promissory note

GRETNA – A loan company is suing a couple, alleging they owe more than $370,000 in an unpaid promissory note.

Ocwen Loan Servicing LLC filed a suit Feb. 2 against Stephen R. Cotton, also known as Stephen Cotton, and Nelly Goff Cotton, also known as Nelly G. Cotton and Nelly Cotton, in 24th Judicial District Court, alleging failure to pay off a loan in a timely manner.

According to the claim, Ocwen Loan is the holder of a promissory note for the balance of $382,500. The suit states the note was on the mortgage of a house and that the Cottons have failed to keep up with the payments and are still indebted for $377,098.44, plus interest.

Ocwen Loan Servicing seeks all sums due, attorney fees and court costs. It is represented by attorney Corey J. Giroir of The Law Offices of Herschel C. Adcock Jr. in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
