American Express alleges credit card customer owes more than $26,000

NEW ORLEANS – American Express is suing a credit card customer, alleging she owes more than $25,000.

American Express Centurion Bank filed a lawsuit Feb. 8 against Erin Stopak of Orleans Parish in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the bank issued a credit card to Stopak that was used to make $26,001.83 in purchases. The defendant has failed to pay off the balance, the suit says.

American Express Centurion Bank seeks all sums owed, costs of court and all appropriate relief. It is represented by attorney Blake J. Guidry of Couch, Conville & Blitt LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
