NEW ORLEANS – A Terrebonne Parish man alleges he was injured because of an unseaworthy vessel.

Mark Herbert filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Caillou Island Towing Co. Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 2, 2016, while the plaintiff was performing his duties as a seaman aboard defendant's vessel Annette Cenac, he sustained serious and permanent injuries to his neck and back after he fell in the engine room. The plaintiff holds Caillou Island Towing Co. Inc. responsible because the defendant's alleged negligence and unseaworthy vessel caused the injury.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount to adequately compensate him for the damages he sustained, plus interest, for maintenance and cure and costs. He is represented by Joseph J. Weigand Jr. in Houma.
