Visitor blames New Orleans property owners for fall

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a New Orleans property owners, alleging a defective condition caused her to fall.

Cynthia Apffel filed a lawsuit Feb. 6 against Chalres F. Griffin, Madigan's Inc. and ABC Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is a resident of Jefferson Parish. on Feb. 5, 2016, while at the defendants' property at 800 South Carrolton Ave., New Orleans, Apffel slipped and fell on defective steps that had no warning posted.

The defendants are accused of negligently failing to warn of the dangerous condition, failing to remedy the situation and failing to protect guests.

Apffel seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Jerry W. Sullivan of Leefe, Gibbs, Sullivan & Dupre in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
