Offshore Marine Contractors Inc. claims it is owed more than $36,000 for charter

Late 07

NEW ORLEANS – A Lafourche Parish vessel owner alleges it wasn't paid for the use of the vessel.

Offshore Marine Contractors Inc. filed a complaint on March 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Carter Metal Recycling Group LLC alleging failure to pay.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Sept. 29, 2016, and Oct. 5, 2016, plaintiff's vessel, the L/B Tobie Eymard, completed her charter for defendant without incident. The suit states the plaintiff invoiced defendant for the balance of the time charter, but as Jan. 31, 2017, a total of $36,311.03 remains due and owing. The plaintiff holds Carter Metal Recycling Group LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make payments for the said balance.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award for all sums due, plus interest, costs, attorneys’ fees and all other equitable relief. It is represented by Martin S. Bohman and Victor R. Loraso III of Carleton, Loraso Hebert & Wittenbrink LLC in Baton Rouge.
