NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish man alleges he suffered a knee injury while trying to stop the defective bicycle he was riding.

Warren J. Keller filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Target Corp. of Minnesota and Target Corp. citing Louisiana products liability, negligence and redhibition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 13, 2016, he purchased a bike from defendants' Target store in Covington. While trying his new bike, he alleges he was unable to turn the bike because the handlebar component had not been properly assembled and that he sustained injuries when tried to stop it with his foot. The suit states that as a result of the incident, he underwent left knee arthroscopy on April 27, 2016, and is currently in jeopardy of losing his job.

The plaintiff holds Target Corp. of Minnesota and Target Corp. responsible because defendants' employees allegedly failed to properly assemble the bike and failed to properly supervise and train employees.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, attorney's fees, costs and expenses and all other legal relief. He is represented by Thomas B. Calvert in Metairie.
