Orleans Parish woman claims puddle of water caused her to slip, fall at New Orleans East Hospital

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she was caused to slip and fall in a hospital.

Caroline Villena filed a lawsuit March 23 against Louisiana Children's Medical Center and Parish Hospital Service District for the Parish of Orleans District A, both doing business as New Orleans East Hospital, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, a resident of Orleans Parish, was at the defendant's property at 5620 Read Blvd., Orleans Parish. The suit states that the plaintiff was in the emergency room on April 11, 2016, and was called to the front desk, where she was caused to slip on water that had been left on the ground. The plaintiff suffered injuries to her body as a result of the fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to clean up the ground or warn of the dangerous situation.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney William E. Mura Jr. in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
