NEW ORLEANS – A Washington Parish seaman alleges the joint operators of the Coastal 20 vessel are responsible for the injuries he sustained while working.

Brandon Creel filed a complaint on March 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Coastal Drilling Co. LLC and Peak Energy LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 17, 2016, plaintiff was performing his regular duties while in the service of defendants' jointly operated vessel when he sustained severe and disabling injuries when he was hit by a drill collar. The plaintiff holds Coastal Drilling Co. LLC and Peak Energy LLC responsible because the vessel Coastal 20 that plaintiff was working on was allegedly unseaworthy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in the amount of $1.95 million, costs of court, and for all such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by D. Steven Wanko Jr. of The Wanko Law Firm LLC in Covington.
