Jefferson Parish woman allegedly failed to pay back Perkins promissory note

GRETNA – The University of New Orleans is seeking damages for an overdue promissory note.

University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through the University of New Orleans filed a suit April 3 against Melissa J. Lacoste of Jefferson Parish in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging failure to pay on a promissory note.

According to the claim, the defendant took out a Federal Perkins Loan Master Promissory Note. The suit states that the defendant has failed to pay the balance owed, which is $920 plus interest and attorneys' fees.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Meghan N. Beal of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darrensburg.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 770656.
