SHREVEPORT – A Mooringsport woman alleges she was retaliated against while employed by Honeywell International.
Janice Kennedy filed a complaint on April 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division against Honeywell International Inc. alleging that the former employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was hired by the defendant in 2014 as a distribution manager and was subjected to retaliation and a hostile work environment. She alleges she was unlawfully terminated from her employment on Dec. 19, 2016, because she requested a medical leave under FMLA and for filing a complaint under Title VII. The plaintiff holds Honeywell International Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide reasonable accommodations and failed to properly reinstate plaintiff following an FMLA leave and terminated her employment for exercising her protected rights.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and liquidated damages, plus interest, attorney's fees, costs and all other relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Allison A. Jones of Downer, Jones, Marino & Wilhite in Shreveport.
