Orleans Parish woman claims truck driver hit barrier while she was directing traffic, causing her injuries

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims that she was struck while directing traffic.

Dansanto McCoy filed a lawsuit against Charles Edward Gordon, Better Boxing Inc. and State National Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was working as a traffic patrol Aug. 3  when the incident occurred. The suit states the plaintiff was injured when Gordon, who was driving a 18-wheeler, struck a large traffic barrier, causing it to be pushed into the plaintiff. The plaintiff knocked down by the barrier and was injured, according to the lawsuit.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to control the vehicle in a proper and safe manner, failing to keep an eye out and failing to obey basic rules of the road.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Jodi J. Aamodt of Jacobs Manuel Kain & Aamodt in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
