Orleans Parish man claims he was injured when he fell from steps created with concrete blocks

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish man is seeking damages after he fell from poorly constructed steps.

William Brossette Jr. filed a lawsuit May 12 against XYZ Insurance Co., Eric A. Gustafson, Samuel C. Danna, Jake W. Stout and Jean Doe in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was working as an iron worker on May 13, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while the defendant was at 1921 Burgundy St., Orleans Parish, he was caused to fall while walking on steps that had been crafted out of concrete blocks. The plaintiff was allegedly injured from the fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to provide a safe situation for the plaintiff, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney David W. Gernhauser Jr. in Chalmette.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
